If you want a great chest workout but you don’t belong to a gym and don’t know what home gym equipment to use for chest exercises, don’t sweat it. Even without bars, cables and machines, you can get a great chest workout at home with just dumbells. Nearly every exercise that you can do with gym equipment can be done with bodyweight, some dumbbells and a little bit of creativity.
Our Do This Instead® suggestion today is for anyone who wants a great chest exercise or two but doesn’t own or have access to a bench press rack with a barbell, or cables and press machines like those found in a gym. The solution is simple. If you have a pair of dumbbells (and your own body weight), you can Do This Instead®, with similar results:
Instead of Barbell or Machine Bench Press, which looks like this . . .
Do This Instead®: Dumbbell Bench Press . . .
And if you don’t have a cable machine to do Crossover Cable for chest, like this . . .
Do This Instead® also: Dumbbell Bench Flyes . . .
Add some pushups and you’ve got a great workout. (hint: if you can’t do pushups like this, put your knees on the ground).
If you can only workout at home, don’t use that as an excuse to NOT workout. Just “Do This Instead®”. If you would like a fitness plan sent to you every day by email, be sure to check out the library of fitness plans and workout programs on our fitness plans page.
